The Noranda Blues Volleyball team traveled to Laurainville on Saturday and finished the round robin tournament with a 3 and 5 record. This was good enough for a fourth place finish, and good enough to keep the team in Division one for the next league tournament in January.
Next up for the girls is practice on Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 and a mini tournament Kirkland Lake High School, and Sacred Heart School on Wednesday. Then another practice on Thursday.

Noranda Blues come second in Kirkland Lake
The Noranda Blues Girls Volleyball team, fresh off their second place finish in division 2, travelled to Kirkland Lake to participate in the tournament their. After a rough start in the first match, some changes were made and the team started playing better in the second match against Ecole Jean Vanier. The team followed that up with wins against Sacred Heart AB and the second Ecole Jean Vanier team securing their playoff spot.
The final round robin game against Kirkland Lake, everyone played a great deal, which was very important for giving the younger players needed experience. The semi final match was against the same Kirkland team that we finished the round robin with. The team played with a lot of confidence and showed just how much better they have gotten by beating Kirkland Lake in 2 straight sets to win the match.
In the final they played Sacred Heart again, the same team they lost the first match too. At times the Blues looked like the better team, winning the 2nd set and forcing a deciding 3rd set for the championships. However their serving game let them down, missing 5 serves in a row, and they lost the deciding set.
Everyone received certificates for their 2nd place finish and left with increased confidence. All the players showed improvement and look forward to seeing what they can do in division 1 league play when they travel to Lorrainville on December 11th.
